Isle of
Wight 2010 Darts Open Cancelled
It is with great regret that the 2010 Isle of Wight
Open Darts Weekend, due to place over the weekend of 22 October,
has been
cancelled. The event continued to build on the success of previous years, when
it was held at the former Harcourt Sands Holiday Village,
before
being transferred to Sandown with the darts event being hosted in the seafront
Trouville Hotel.
However due to the current economic climate, the
bookings for the event have seen a marked decrease
and so
the agent’s IOW Tours have been forced to make this heart-wrenching decision,
together
with the Open’s organiser Colin Saunders of MC Promotions.
With the high costs of travel to the Island involved
and the sizeable prize fund put up, the event has now become unviable.
IOW Tours would like to thank each and every one of
those who have supported the Open over the years.
There are many happy memories of the event that will
be remembered for a long time to come.
IOW Tours are now seeking better venues on the
mainland, with more suited facilities, to replace the IOW Open. So watch this
space!!
